Hello and thanks for checking out my website! My name is Joanna Lisowiec (pronounced Lease-oviets), and I am a freelance illustrator and designer living in Yorkshire, England. Originally from Poland and brought up in the U.S. and Switzerland, I came to the U.K to study illustration and fell in love with the wild Scottish highlands and quaint English countryside.
As an illustrator and printmaker I’m known for a bold style of illustration with lots of texture, usually focused on the beauty of nature and narratives inspired by folklore. I also love reading books and would love to illustrate a classic novel one day.
I also do work as a hand-letterer and packaging designer. My designs are highly illustrative and inspired by vintage lettering and packaging but with modern elements like bright colours and vivid illustrations. I especially enjoy working on spirit and beer packaging because there is so much opportunity for storytelling.
I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a BA(Hons) in Illustration and also have a MA in Advertising & Design from the University of Leeds. I have worked with clients and partners such as Penguin Random House, Ebury, Sandy Leaf Farms, Folklore Society Gin and Diablesse Rum with Analogue, Thin Ice Press, Edinburgh University Student Association, Saraband Books, Fledgling Press and Zizzi’s.
When I’m not working I can be found with my nose in a book, taking long walks in the countryside, drinking tea and listening to the rain.
If you’re interested in working together I would love to hear about your project! Please use the contact form below to get in touch.
